We are Jon & Eve Avent and along with our candle making we are deeply involved in animal rescue. We both grew up with our own pets we loved and cherished, but we soon saw the many abandoned animals roaming the streets as well as perishing in "Animal Control" environments. We soon met Joe & Brenda Wilbanks the founders of the Haven. Joe's hard work inspired us to make our Hot Buttered Rum Candle to help raise money for the Haven. We have decided to pour a different scent for The Haven that is a scent that everyone will enjoy Vanilla Bean.
And yes many animals stopped off at our house looking for a home and never left. Our family pets (shown above) are our children and are showered with more than most actual children have. We could not have children of our own, but we loved each other deeply and needed to share our home with someone so we adopted our rescues one by one who became our loving children. Not a day goes by that they don't show us 100% love and loyalty. We knew that we had to do what we could to help the sweet furry babies that didn't have a home like ours!
Last year Rowdy was born into our family at a time when we desperately needed cheering up after Ernie had passed away. Rowdy became the class clown at our house and has provided constant entertainment as he has grown. There is never a dull day with Rowdy throwing his two barks into the mix!
So remember each and every one of us can help in many small ways to help animals. Maybe it's a small donation or temporary foster home or best of all taking an abandoned animal into your home as a family member but it all starts with this motto:
